Ignite Bristol

Ignite Bristol began on 4 March 2010 as part of Global Ignite Week 2010. It was held at The Polish Club in Clifton and around 120 people were there to witness our first speakers take to the stage.

Our second event, the cannily titled Ignite Bristol #2, took place on 15 July 2010, relocating to the Tobacco Factory Theatre, Southville. This time we were joined by an audience of nearly 200 to watch our next 10 intrepid speakers.

Ignite Bristol #3 took place on Halloween, 31 October 2010, again at the Tobacco Factory Theatre and despite competing spooky arrangements, clocks going back and Sunday evening inertia, a crowd of nearly 200 again descended to watch our speakers.

To mark the second Global Ignite Week, Ignite Bristol #4 boarded the world’s first modern ship, Brunel’s ss Great Britain, at her permanent mooring in Bristol’s historic harbour. When our initial tickets were released, they were snatched up in just 90 seconds. Some 100 lucky people joined us on Wednesday 9 February for an evening of ideas quite unlike any other we’d done before.

On Thursday 12 May 2011 more than 200 people gathered to watch 10 great talks as Ignite Bristol #5 took place in the great space of Spike Island, the renowned gallery and creative centre south of the harbour.

Ignite Bristol #6 once again saw us in the comfortable surroundings the always good Tobacco Factory Theatre on Wednesday 14 September 2011.

For Ignite Bristol #7, impressed with Ignite Bristol’s ability to fill weekday evenings, our friends at the Tobacco Factory Theatre threw down the gauntlet of a weekend evening – could we offer an alternative start to the Jubilee bank holiday weekend in Friday 1 June 2012? You bet we could.
